Our topics of study for the month of January will be as follows:
    
Our students are once again working with the Superkids reading program. Our focus of study this month will be.... 

Reading: The children will identify sequence of  events, use a table of contents to locate information, practice reading dialogue, and read rhythmical poetry.

Phonics: The children will decode words with kn, wr, igh, aught, ought, ph, gh, and decode words with un- and re-.

Grammar: The children will complete sentences using homophones, understand and use prefixes, and learn the parts of a dictionary entry: pronunciation and multiple definitions.

Math: The children will continue adding three digit numbers and begin subtracting three digit numbers.

Science: The children will continue to learn about changes in the weather.

Social Studies: We will begin our study of history.  In this unit we learn about communities over time.  The children will learn how events and new technologies in America's history helped promote change.  The children will learn about important individuals who have contributed to our national character.

Religion: The children will learn about the ways we prepare and how we celebrate the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation.
